Might I suggest buying an African drum, the kind you can hang over your shoulder. It's great not only for relieving stress, but for getting you through temporary writer's block.

Thinks for the tips. I especially like the one about using music. Music does help me. And yes stress does contribute to my migraines, some. Migraines are reason enough for me to learn to deal with stress better.

Go for a walk is one of my favorites. Whenever I get too stressed, I go for a walk.

Good advice. Music is one of my greatest stress busters. I live in the boonies and the cows can't call the cops when I crank up the music. A good cry in the shower works when other options are limited, especially if you're doing hospital time with a loved one. Writing letters and shredding them works really well until the shredder chokes.

Listening to music and working out are definitely the two that work best for me. And right now as I'm finishing up my undergraduate degree and trying to get situated for graduate school - let me tell you I'm enduring plenty of stress! Good article!

Good tips; I'm glad you pointed out that drugs and alcohol don't solve stress. Knowing I can lay all my burdens at the feet of Jesus Christ since I have a relationship with Him is the best for me! Reading God's love letter and instruction manual for life (the Bible), listening to upbeat songs with uplifting lyrics, and talking with my Heavenly Father through prayer are ways I let go of things and let God handle the stressors in my life.
