Outside of Nintendo, no other video game company has the same amount of iconic games and characters as Capcom. In fact, Capcom is probably the best third party publisher in terms of quality. From Mega Man to Devil May Cry, the Capcom games are some of
the most popular and revolutionary in the history of the industry. Here are the top five Capcom franchises.
5. Phoenix Wright
Phoenix Wright came out of nowhere and become one of the most cherish Capcom franchises. Although the courtroom may not seem like a perfect place for a video game, these defense attorney games made it an engrossing setting due to the charming characters, suspenseful story and involving gameplay. The Phoenix Wright franchise is probably the most unique one from Capcom.
4. Devil May Cry
3D action games were never the same once the original Devil May Cry came out on the Playstation 2. The game set the precedent for the genre with stylish combination-based gameplay. Not to mention that franchise protagonist Dante is one of the coolest video game characters around. With the exception of the second game, Devil May Cry games are considered to be the best the genre has to offer.
3. Mega Man
Capcom has many mascots but one stands above the rests: Mega Man. The blue bomber is always wreaking havoc whether if it's in the original series or the Mega Man X saga. Boss battles are the franchise's forte; not only are the battles intense but Mega Man also acquires the boss' ability once he defeated them. Mega Man may have been milked with too many rehashes; nevertheless, it still remains a top notch Capcom franchise.

Just like Devil May Cry with the action genre, Super Street Fighter II Turbo forever changed fighting games. Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Soulcalibur and other games in the genre were all influenced by the same game. Memorable characters (from Chun-Li to M. Bison), high speed action and great attack animations make it the most popular fighting game ever. Of course, a franchise has more than just one game: Street Fighter III (and soon IV), Street Fighter Alpha and other spin-offs are just as solid.
