Gossip Girl, the Jonas Brothers, and Miley Cyrus Big Winners at 2008 Teen Choice Awards

The 2008 Teen Choice Awards were held Sunday, August 3rd in Hollywood California to large crowd of adoring fans. 15-year old teen phenom Miley Cyrus took on the hosting duties, and later performed her new hit single 7 Things. Among other performers was Mariah Carey, who also performed her new single "I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time."

The night was all about celebrating teens in the industry, and there was no shortage of recognizable stars at the event. The Tee Choice Awards are given out yearly, and are conducted through on-line voting at www.teenchoiceawards.com. This is where teens can have their voices heard about what they feel are the biggest and best teen stars in music, movies, and television. Past winners have included people like Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, and Justin Timberlake just to name a few, and it is a good place to find the pulse of the masses.

This year's awards really showcased the hit CW television show Gossip Girl which came in nominated for a ton of awards. By the end of the night, the show had taken home a total of 6 Teen Choice Awards, coming from the categories of best TV drama, best breakout show, best breakout male actor (Chace Crawford), best breakout female star (Blake Lively), best drama actress (Blake Lively), and best TV villain (Ed Westwick). Chace Crawford can be recognized as an actor from the film The Covenant, while Blake Lively has become very recognizable from her starring roles in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and its sequel that comes out later this summer.

The Jonas Brothers, the group of 3 boys who have appeared as the opening act for many Miley Cyrus concerts, and recently starred in the Disney Film Camp Rock, also took home 6 Teen Choice Awards on the night. They won awards for Choice breakout group, best love song, best music single, best song of the summer, best male red carpet fashion icons, and for best male hotties. Not to be out-done on her own, Cyrus also took home 3 awards of her own, and had the Jonas Brothers assist her with hosting duties for a majority of the show.
