The date is October 17, 2004. The place is Fenway Park in Boston Massachusetts. The New York Yankees lead the American League Championship series three games to none against the Boston Red Sox. If the Yankees win game four, they move to the World Series, but if Boston can salvage a game four win, they will stay in the contest. It has been a back and forth game four until the bottom of the twelfth inning. Boston's designated hitter David Ortiz comes to the plate and hits a walk-off home run. The Red Sox used the momentum provided by Ortiz to turn the series around and win one of the most unbelievable series' in baseball history, riding the victory all the way to a World Series victory. The victory would seem as a great statement for the importance of the DH; however, the hit provided by Ortiz only goes to show that the DH cheapens baseball by turning it into a slugfest. The DH position in baseball should be done away with because it removes strategy from the game.
