I was looking at my vintage Chinese Checker board the other day and I thought it would look great as a Christmas Chinese Checker Board craft project for kids. The simple triangles you try to get your marbles into reminded me of Christmas trees. The center circle could easily be a Christmas ball ornament!

You Can Make This Simple Christmas Chinese checker board in one afternoon with the kids. Be sure to use white, green, and red colored marbles to carry on the Christmas theme!

To Make This Simple Christmas Chinese Checkers Craft Game Board You Will Need:

Sheet of Plywood (Cut To You Game’s Size and Shape)
Acrylic Paint
Primer
Paint Brushes
Painters Tape
Sand Paper
Wood Stain (optional)
Black Paint pen or White Paint pen
Pencil
Cardboard

You will be making the Christmas checker game board out of a sheet of plywood. I recommend pine or birch. Cut your Chinese checkerboard to size. You can have the home improvement store make the cuts for you of you do not own a saw.

Sand the rough edges of the game board. Then apply a coat of primer.

While the primer is drying you can go ahead and draw out your Christmas tree shape. Chinese checkers has three to four triangles on each side, so keep that in mind. Draw one tree out on the cardboard. You can move it around the game board and trace it on so all of the triangles will be consistent.

Once the coat of primer has dried you can paint your game onto the board. Start with the round ornament in the middle.

I recommend stepping back and looking at your vintage game and seeing what is the main color of your inspiration game board. Paint your entire wooden game board that color. I recommend red.

Once this paint has dried you can start drawing off the middle round ornament and Christmas tree shapes. Be sure to place the base of the Christmas trees on the middle ornament circle.

Once the initial colors have been applied and are dry use a black or white paint pen to outline and add words and other details.

To age your vintage game board lightly rubs it with a fine grit sand paper. Use wood gel stain to rub into the board and make it darken and appear older.
