The Olsen Twins: Investigations, Memoirs and Jokes at Their Expense

The once adored Olsen twins are in the news today, for some not so adorable reasons. The Full House actresses, now in their 20s, have grown up in the media spotlight. For Mary-Kate Olsen, close friend of recently deceased actor Heath Ledger, the media spotlight has brought with it
The Olsen Twins: Investigations, Memoirs and Jokes at Their Expense
questioning by the DEA in Ledger's death and the manner in which Ledger obtained two controlled substances. The girls are also preparing to release their joint memoir in the near future. And last night's Comedy Central Roast of Bob Sagat couldn't leave the twins alone either, poking fun at Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen for much of the night. The Olsen twins have to be asking themselves--has the fame and fortune been worth it?

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen became famous on television's Full House in the 1990s. Though the Olsen twins became popular as babies, they quickly turned their celebrity status into a multimillion dollar franchise, starring in movies such as 1995's It Takes Two and a string of shows geared towards children. The Olsen twins were, in the 1990s, what Miley Cyrus is to pre-teen girls today. Like Cyrus, who suddenly finds herself receiving more media attention than she might like, the Olsen twins are all over the media this morning.

Mary-Kate Olsen and the Investigation into Heath Ledger's Death
UK's Telegraph reports this morning that Mary-Kate Olsen wants immunity in conversations with investigators about Heath Ledger's death. Though her agents state that this Olsen twin has already given all of the information that she has about the case, Mary Kate Olsen's lawyer continues to decline requests for interviews with the DEA, and the DEA has reported that she wants immunity for an information that she does provide.

Unless she supplied drugs that led to his death, doesn't seem any reason she shouldn't be granted immunity;she's not under investigation.
