Warning Signs of Common Dog Illnesses
Many pets are prone to many types of illness. The best way to keep your dog free of disease and illness is to fully understand the common dog diseases so that you can treat them properly and see the first warning signs so
that you can get them to a veterinarian before it may be too late. While these illnesses are not a complete list of common illnesses they are among the top illnesses that your dog may come into contact with.
Bloat is a very serious condition in dogs. Bloat causes a dogs stomach to become twisted, this is a caused due to over eating. The symptoms of a dog with bloat are restlessness, depression and dry heaves.
Parvovirus/Parvo is a very deadly contagious disease that affects the intestinal tract in dogs. If the Parvovirus is left untreated in your pet death will eventually come to your dog. Parvovirus affects the heart of your dog. There are various symptoms to watch for, severe diarrhea, depression, and decrease in appetite. You will also want to watch your dog's feces as they will change in color and have blood in them. The parvovirus is a very deadly disease in dogs with symptoms appearing with in hours of your pet being infested with the parvovirus. Because the parvovirus can ultimately kill your pet with in 2 to 3 days you will want to make sure if your dog exhibits any types of these symptoms you get him to a veterinarian quickly.
Rabies is a very common disease in dogs that is caused by a virus that affects their central nervous system. The Rabies virus has been known to spread through saliva. The first step carries behavior changes in your dog, the second stage is when your dog will become very aggressive and even violent, the last stage is when your dogs body stops coordinating with itself. There is no cure for rabies and rabies will lead to death of your pet.
Kennel Cough is a very common contagious respiratory disease in the dog community. While this disease can be easily treated you will want to catch it early due to respiratory problems. If your dog starts to show respiratory problems you will want to bring him to the vet so that he can have proper treatment and medicines.
