Ray Scott gained attention with the country music anthem "My Kind Of Music" but has more to say, and does so with "Crazy Like Me" and a lineup of original songs.

You think the CD starts with a story, which kicks in to the upbeat "Hell Got Raised" opening the cd. The cd's title cut plays next with a reflection of things gone wrong and mistakes made but realizing we "create your own misery".

"You Ain't Taking This Hard Enough" ponders a breakup in a different way. "Your mama said she didn't even know we broke up...you ain't taking this hard enough..." shows a twist of him staying home while she's moved on to live it up. "Can I just get you to squeeze out one tear? Just one?" No sitting around for that girl!

Perspective comes in when wondering what the poor folks are doing - sitting and fishing and, while admitting not having financial means having what is important. "They got everything else in this world and still it ain't enough" is a line from "Poor Folks". Pondering doesn't last long when the strains of "Sometimes The Bottle Hits You Back" starts and anyone who had a little too much fun (or a lot of too much fun!) can relate to "I'm tired of waking up and wondering where and who I am, feeling like someone cracked my temple with an ax..." the day after.

"Ashtray On A Motorcycle" is another real-life-hits back song and is followed up with the light-hearted "Everybody's Girlfriend" of again turning the tables, with her running around on the guys. "I'm in love with everybody's girlfriend...I want her but she wants a lot of men..." With a means of just putting things out there "Do It With The Lights On" equally pulls no punches. It's not sterilized and warm-fuzzies and paints with the broad strokes rather than snapshots of things popular on radio airplay.

The cd winds down with "Workin' My Way Back Home" and a reflective look at real life also in "Slow Down." Life passing by is not an uncommon theme but few express it quite like this song. "I love the feel of these big wheels under me..." is tempered with the realizing of things being missed. "
