Rusty Christmas garden art is a fun way to create unique Christmas display in your front yard. This Christmas yard decoration project is an easy one perfect for any size front yard. Reindeer Rakes and Santa Claus shovels just do not take up a lot of room!

So, get the whole family involved in creating these unique and electric Christmas garden Santa and Reindeers made from old yard tools!

If you want to complete this craft project for a smaller or indoor garden try using some rusty spades and trowels. They are the perfect miniature shovels and rakes for the reindeers and Santa.

For this rusty Christmas garden art craft project you will need:

Rusty Shovels
Rusty Metal Garden Rakes (However many you want)
Exterior Paint (In a variety of colors)
Polyurethane
Paint Brushes (Smaller Artist Brushes)
Rope or Twine
Christmas Outdoor Red Bows
Strings of Christmas Lights (optional)

You can find rusty shovels and rakes at yard sales, your own yard, friends and family. If for some reason you can’t find any you can make your own. Buy some new shovels; paint them with a faux rusting treatment like the ones for sale at Lowes.

Choose different types of rakes for this Christmas craft project. The fun is in the details. I find quite a variety of garden rakes all the time. The large floppy kinds for leaves are fun because they tend to get all bent up. You can also find that sturdy prong kind that are meant for shoveling dirt and rocks. A garden hoe could also make a great yard art reindeer. There are 8 reindeer, so keep that in mind if you are a stickler for the Christmas details.

You will be standing your Santa Clause shovel and Reindeer rakes up by the handle, so the face on Santa will either be the concave or convex side of the shovel. Paint a Santa Clause face on the shovel using your exterior paint.

This craft sounds delightful but I need a picture! Anyone have a photo or illustration?
