Brooke White: American Idol Releases Debut CD
American Idols Making News
Brooke White, Season 7's 5th-place finalist on "American Idol," has released her debut CD, "Songs From The Attic," on New Millenium Records. The 11-track CD contains material originally released on a CD by the same name that White record and released in 2006. The new incarnation of the CD also has bonus tracks of White covering Aerosmith's "Dream On" and Coldplay's "Yellow."Brooke White finished in fifth place on the wildly popular singing competition reallty show "American Idol" this past season. Her girl-next-door, wholesome good looks and overall niceness won over millions of fans. Her rendition of the Beatles "Let It Be" was hailed by the judges on the show and critics alike. But it was her less-than-stellar performances of Neil Diamonnd's music that got her eliminated from the competition. (To be fair, the Neil Diamond week was less-than-stellar for most of the contestants.)
News of Brooke White's CD release comes hot off the publicity of the release of "American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta's debut single, "Crush." Archuleta released his first single off his as yet untitled album on August 1st.
David Cook, this year's "American Idol" winner, is still working on his debut CD. News that he is working on original material Our Lady Peace and Collective Soul is promising, and reports hint at a CD release in November. David Cook's debut single, the winning song from "American Idol's" songwriting competition, "The Time of My Life" peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard charts. It went to No. 1 on Billboard's Digital Downloads Chart.
But David Cook isn't the first American Idol to have his fellow contenders release CDs ahead of him. Clay Aiken debuted his first album ahead of Season 2 winner Reuben Studdard. Chris Daughtry debuted his self-titled CD before Taylor Hicks, the winner of Season 5. That album has now been certified four times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in April and is currently No. 9 on Billboard's Hard Rock Album Chart.
Brooke White's CD, "Songs From The Attic" was available for download on her website previous to the most recent national release.
