Scrapbooking has become a cherished craft for many. Although it takes time and lots of consideration sometimes just to decide on a scrapbook layout the final product can be absolutely beautiful. A scrapbook layout should be something that you place in your scrapbook album to cherish for many years to come. Halloween is a time of lots of pictures of the little ones trick or treating and dressing up. A Halloween scrapbook page with ghosts ghouls is a great way to get all those scary Halloween pictures into the scrapbook album.

For this project you will need:Halloween themed scrapbooking paper and traditional scrapbooking papers in Halloween colors such as orange, black, purple, and green. Coordinating textured cardstock.

Coordinating ribbons, brads, and other Halloween themed embellishments.

Orange, Black, Purple, Green and other coordinating colored Glitter, Markers, and scrapbook paint

Glue

Begin the Layout: Start the layout by choosing what background paper you will use for the page. A solid color that will contrast with your other papers is a good choice. You may also layer the background with a few different layers of coordinating papers to give the entire background dimension.

Photo Mats: Choose coordinating and contrasting papers to create photo mats for the layout. Your Halloween scrapbook layout can have as many or as few photo mats as you would like as long as you have room on the page. A good rule of thumb is to place 1-2 photos on each page of the full layout (most full layouts are a 2 page spread)

To make your photo mats layer coordinating papers in a way that each layer is slightly larger than the previous so that there is an edge of the paper showing. Measure the front layer of each photo mat at about .25 inches more than the photo itself. This will leave an edge of .25 inches around the picture when you place the picture on the mat (you will still be able to see some of the themed paper this way)

Continue adding dimension to your photo mats this way by layering the paper. Most photo mats look great with 2-3 layers behind the first layer. Glue the layers together and set the photo mats aside for later.

Takeaways
  • Start the layout by choosing what background paper you will use for the page.
  • The idea is to create dimension on every paper pieced character
  • When you have completed the layout you can add your cherished Halloween photos
