What Exactly Does it Mean to Be an Independent Woman in Today's World and is How Some People Define it Actually Helpful with Regards to Finding a Long Term Commitment in Marriage?

Why Men Marry Bitches, a Book Review to Sherry Argov's Sequel to Why Men Love Bitches

Many articles written for or about women these days love to blast the importance of being an independent woman so that she can survive, compete and succeed in the so called "Boys Club Of America". But what exactly does it mean to be an independent woman? Is it something that's defined
by financial or career success? Does independence reflect the state of a woman's ability to acquire material items. Is it simply a state of mind? Or is a woman's independence really just a desperate attempt to build walls around herself to protect her from any possible harmful influences from society, family, coworkers or acquaintances?

I recently read "Why Men Marry Bitches - A Woman's Guide to Winning Her Man's Heart" by Sherry Argov, sequel to her book titled "Why Men Love Bitches - From Doormat to Dreamgirl, A Woman's Guide to Holding Her Own in a Relationship". After reading both of these books, I find myself thinking that Sherry Argov is absolutely part of the problem, not the solution, with regards to helping women to improve their relationship skills as they're discerning their long-term compatibility with potential partners.

A friend told me after skimming through Sherry Argov's books that she felt Argov tries way too hard to come across as not needy and very desperate and that she focuses way too much on the presentation or image of the independent "Bitch". My friend says, instead of putting so much focus on women molding to the image of being an independent bitch, why not help women develop themselves as individuals so that they have their own genuine interests and sense of self to share with a man? I couldn't agree more!
