TAPS Jason Hawes: SciFi Ghost Hunters Renewed Not Canceled

Rumors of SciFi channel canceling the hot paranormal series Ghost Hunters simply aren't true according to Jason Hawes co-founder of TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) and star of the Ghost Hunters TV series. Hawes' recent myspace entry updates viewers with the promise of new Ghost Hunters episodes in fall 2008 to complete season 4, and twenty-six new episodes scheduled for season 5 to kick off in spring 2009.

Ghost Hunters, SciFi's paranormal television series follows Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, long time friends and co-founders of TAPS, on paranormal investigations, popularly called Ghost Hunts, as they strive to debunk or record paranormal activities.

The show hinges on real people experiencing unexplained activity that they believe is paranormal who call TAPS for assistance in verifying whether or not paranormal activity actually exists. Each episode follows Jason and Grant and the Ghost Hunters team into the homes or businesses of ordinary people and films the actual investigation.

What sets Ghost Hunters apart from other paranormal shows is that it relies on actual footage gained from the investigation and down plays feelings and sensory input that cannot be verified. Instead of accepting personal experiences at face value and labeling them as paranormal experiences, TAPS investigates the claims and attempts to verify or debunk the reports via natural causes.

The debunking process ranges from searching for natural sources of high EMF (electromagnetic field) readings, which can cause people to experience sensations that may appear to be paranormal; such as, the feeling of being watched or hallucinations, to re-creating possible causes for shadows and lights.
