What I Can Do to Relieve Headaches

What is a headache?

We know that a headache is some sort of ache or pain or throbbing in the head, face, or neck area. Sometime it can even go down to the shoulders. They can be of short or long duration or only once every couple of months. But they can also happen many times in a month, or even almost every
day during special times of the year. The pain can go from being very mild, that you barely feel it, but know that it is there, to pain that hurts so much you can't move or do anything without so much pain that you can't stand it.

Types and Causes

Normally the pain can come from the nerve fibers in the muscles, or tissues playing havoc, or even high blood pressure.

There are three main types of headaches: tension, cluster (including sinuses headaches) and the most painful one, the Migraine.

Tension

Tension headaches are associated with stress, anxiety and depression. It used to be that tension headaches only happened to middle age or older people, but this is not so in today's competitive world, even young children are now getting this type of headache.

Cluster

Cluster headaches normally happen often, in some cases every day during curtain seasons. Many people have sinus headaches when the seasons change, especially in the spring and autumn. Other types of cluster headaches can be caused by diabetes, thyroid disease or other metabolic disorders. They can also come from teeth or ear problems. These types will only be cured if the tooth, ear, eye or sinus problem is dealt with first. Even some medications can cause headaches as well as too much coffee or alcohol.

People who have TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorders) often wake up in the morning with headaches as they have been clenching their jaw and teeth all night. Some people are also affected by climate changes such as heavy rain, snow, high winds, really cold weather, barometric pressure, etc.
