Actor Daniel Craig's Request for a Bisexual James Bond

As most of the Internet has heard by now, Daniel Craig, the latest actor to take up the role of James Bond, is, in a story reported by World Entertainment News Network, advocating that the Bond franchised be revolutionized by including men, as well as women, among James Bond's many
conquests. Predictably this has spawned squeals of glee and squawks of horror all over cyberspace.

As a long-time James Bond fan, I think Daniel Craig is absolutely right and applaud him speaking his mind on the issue. I think the world is ready for a queer, bisexual or omnivorous (choose your favorite word) James Bond, not for any reasons of political correctness or gay advocacy, but because I believe it actually makes sense for James Bond. I also believe that those objecting to some male on male action for James Bond are objecting mainly because they assume this would feminize James Bond or otherwise detract from the fictional super-spy's reputation for getting any girl he wants.

So, here are my five reasons why I support Daniel Craig's view on the future of the James Bond franchise.

1. James Bond is many things, including his sex drive. Let's face it, one of the reasons we love James Bond is because he's oversexed. With that in mind, do you really think James Bond would turn down the offer of a sexual favor if it got him what he wanted - whether that's one step closer to the villain or just a bit of pleasurable distraction? I don't.

2. On a related note, James Bond is a daredevil and risk taker. He's not just the sort of character that will try anything once, but the sort of character who will try anything twice, to make sure he wasn't wrong about his initial opinion on the matter.

3. James Bond has always liked his women tough. He's as often about fighting with them as rescuing them. Why should that trope of violent chemistry only turn sexual with female characters?

A bisexual James Bond is right on target -- whether people are comfortable or not with the image. Most spies, either historically or in literature are bisexual or homosexual--and the background is endless-- from Blunt, Burgess, Day Of The Jackel--even the creator, Ian Fleming was bisexual. Daniel Craig is just being fair and realistic to the genre. If "M's" genre can be switched to a wonderful Judy Dench, then the further sexual development of Bond is a must. I say the filmmakers should go for it.

NO BI-Spy Guy. If Bond turns BI, it's BYE, BYE BONDIE and hello BINDIE. If BOND is BI- it's time to die spy, Ian Fleming would turn in his grave.

Well that would certainly make me wanna watch the new James Bond flick. I am a girl who enjoys watching good looking men kiss. Besides it's year 2008... time to update Mr. Bond a little bit.

absolutely ridiculous absolutely. I don't mind being redundant. This is absolute bullshit. Probably said tongue in cheek. Idiot. I'm no bro homophobe asshole, but if bond sucked dick part-time I would have nothing to do with tv franchise (that has decidedly been bastardized for shock value)

Pure dross. This is yet another attempt by members of the homogenisation crew, deluded into thinking their mindless controversiality makes them interesting, to try to make us all the same, as though everyone thinking like they do, will supposedly make the world a better place. Until we all look the same, find exactly the same people attractive and have the same moral standards and sexuality, this lot will not be happy. Difference is to be shunned, feared even. They epitomise the very essence of mediocrity. As for evidence that Bond is 'bisexual' because he likes strong women, how completely backwards and misogynistic can you get? Are we supposed to believe that being a 'strong' or athletic woman is somehow akin to being male or masculine?? What a message that gives to women! If you're strong and independent, then it's likely that the men who find you attractive are really bisexual because really they are looking for a man but can't quite admit it. Appalling article on so many lev
