Inside of me, that longs and hurts
So deeply I can identify…
Love and loss wants to define
While time sometimes smoothes
Or can make it all worse
What is this? I can’t define
Despite my learning years
And cherished memories
It’s there, and yet
I don’t know what it is
I want to know….but I can’t
If “I” make it into “i”
Will it be found in the
sound of yearning
reaching out to be held
in arms that are safe
inside a warm embrace
time goes by, as another
month tears off the page
and still its there
it is a hidden rock
of self, of pain, of joy unreleased
it is my unreachable child
