Why I Choose to Support a Democratic President
Being a Republican for Barack Obama means being open minded and being open to new ways of thinking. Not a Republican way of thinking or a Democrat way of thinking, but an American way of thinking. I don't want to continue to be hated by everybody. I feel Obama can bring the country back to a country of caring and proud people who don't want to be in charge of the World, they want to be a partner with the World. I think he understands that this country needs help. The infrastructure, the economy, the general attitude of every American needs an uplifting change and cooperating spirit. That is how we solve the problems we are continually faced with. Not running around making threats and looking stupid.As a Republican for Obama, I feel obligated to work for his cause. As an American, I feel obligated to support the positive change he thinks he can bring.

Lovely essay. Until recently, I was a Democrat with a lot of respect for McCain (although I never planned to vote for him). Lately, I am really, really turned off by McCain's negative ads. Obama seems to be playing a much healthier and more postive political game right now.
"Republican for Obama" is the biggest oxymoron I've seen. If you truly believe in your Republican values, Obama is not your candidate. True, McCain's not the perfect candidate, but compared to Obama he's Ronald Reagan. Don't waste your vote.
Excellent article. It's nice to see so many American's coming together now as just that - American's. Hopefully other Republican's will read this and take note that it's not about party lines anymore and just electing a Democrat or Republican because that's your affiliation. But electing the person who is right for the job. Well done. If I weren't already an Obama supporter, I'd probably support him after reading this : )
