Tis the season for people to take the plunge into the newest and latest weight loss plans.

The number of overweight Americans is at a record-breaking high. This epidemic gives way for weight loss gurus to work their magic. Everywhere you turn you hear of another diet plan that will be "The One". There are pros and cons to all of them. Your decision will be based on the results you are looking for. Some points to consider are:

How much weight do you want/need to lose?
How quickly do you want to lose the weight?
How strict of a diet do you want to follow?
Do you have any medical problems that will impact your weight loss?

Here are three popular plans. I think it's hard to say if these plans are the best but they are definitely not the worst.

Weight Watchers - This plan has been tried and true for many people. There are Weight Watchers meetings all over the country. Go online and find the nearest one for your convenience. Weight Watchers also has a system where you can monitor your progress online. Weight Watchers provides a support community, nutritional advice, weekly weigh-ins and monitoring, special foods to purchase (if you want, you don't have to), and a system that is flexible. The system is called Weight Watchers TurnAround. This system allows you to pick the plan that is best for you either the Flexible Points Plan or the No Counting Core Plan. The Flexible Points plan allows for the flexibility to eat all the foods you love while watching the amount of foods you take in. The Core Plan focuses on wholesome foods without the need for counting points. This plan has helped many people reach their goal weight. Once you hit your goal weight you will be a lifetime member, free membership as long as you stay within your goal weight range.

Takeaways
  • Weight Watchers has two plans.
  • South Beach is strict for the first two weeks then not so bad.
  • 6 Week Body Makeoever is super strict but has great results.
Did You Know?
6 Week Body Makeover incorporated a great balance of exercise on top of the focused eating plan!

Good Article. I feel SouthBeach is very much like the Atkins Diet in many respects. The first two weeks known as induction is almost identical. This is when you are putting you body in Ketosis. This is when you reduce your Carbs to less than 20-30 per day and eliminate sugar. Your body starts burning fat and this is what accelerates the weightloss. If you eat anything like white bread or any type of sugar you will have blown all the work you did in the first 2 weeks. A great way to measure your Ketosis progress is to go to a Walgreens or CVS and get KETO Sticks. You take a Keto stick and run it through your urine while, well you know and it turns the end of the stick a color. It will be a light to dark purple if you are in Ketosis. This means your are properly performing the induction process. The Atkins or South Beach or great ways to lose the weight quick but he maintenance phase is the most critical so the weight doesn't go right back on. I own a Website called www.diets123info.com

I tried the South Beach Diet and the 2 week "phase 1" really kick started my weight loss. It really worked for me to have a light at the end of the 2 week tunnel, so I was able to stick it out. When I got on the scale and saw that I'd lost 5 lbs, I was motivated to keep going with the healthy eating. It was also a great way for me to get out of my sugar and candy habit. After two weeks, I didn't have the sugar cravings like I had before I started. Great article!
