The usual image that comes to my mind with the name "thrift store" is a store piled neck high with dirty used clothes. Some clothes will be hanging on hangers while some will be on the floor. It definitely won't be a fun environment, but just a place full of cheap clothes.
Lifelong Aids Alliance Thrift Store is the opposite of that. Upon entering, you're greeted with shelves of used books - most under $4.00 - and a couple shelves of vinyl records. You then walk further and find a vast selection of clothes.
The clothes at Lifelong are much nicer than your typical thrift store. They seem to be most current styles and relatively well known brand names. You don't have to walk far down an isle to find Gap, Banana Republic, American Apperal, and several other "brand names." The prices, while a little more than Salvation Army or Value Village, are still desirable. You can get a good pair of jeans for around $10; nothing to complain about, right?
The store also specializes in other items such as a large selection of glassware, VHS tapes, CDs and any other odds and ends. Even some good ol' "adult magazines" if you're of age.
I feel that the greatest attribute, though, that Lifelong possess is excellent customer service. Every time I've been there, the cashiers have greeted me with an enthusiastic "how are you" and shine of being happy to be there. If you don't feel good enough that you're money is going towards fighting AIDS, then their friendly attitude should be enough to turn your opinion.
If you're looking for cheap clothes without the nightmare of a warehouse of a typical charitable thrift store, then Lifelong Aids Alliance Thirft Store is for you.
