Guide to Memphis and Mid-south Area Fall Festivals and Fairs 2008

It's that Time of Year Again!

The Memphis area always boasts many types of events sure to please everyone. This year is no exception. The 2008 fall events include music, arts, crafts and many others. Use this handy guide as a reference and don't forget to mark your calendars.

The Delta Fair and Music Festival August 29 - September 7, 2008. This is the first year for The Delta Fair and Music Festival. The fair will feature rides geared to all ages. Yummy old fashioned fair food as well as a myriad of music and other events will take place and a schedule can be found on The Delta Fair Website: http://www.deltafest.com.

The Memphis Music and Heritage Festival - August 30 - 31, 2008. Food and music highlight this event held in downtown Memphis. There will be blues, rock, soul, gospel, rockabilly, jazz, and lots more! http://www.memphismusicandheritagefestival.com/

Germantown Festival - September 6-September 7, 2008. This is an annual festival held the first weekend after Labor Day in Germantown, just outside of Memphis. It includes arts, crafts, music, food, children's events and the famous "Weenies Dachshund Race." Shuttles will run from area locations. Southern Home and Garden Expo - September 12 - 14, 2008. Held at the Agricenter International, over 300 vendors will be available to answer questions about home improvement. Displays and demos will be set up as well.

Cooper - Young Festival - September 13, 2008 (rain date: September 14, 2008.) This festival showcases art, music and crafts and has over 350 vendors. The festival will be held at the Cooper and Young intersection in Memphis.

The Mid-South Fair - September 19 - September 28, 2008. Art, music and crafts will be presented. This fair has been around for over 150 years. This event is held at the Memphis fairgrounds right next to The Liberty Bowl. Info: http://memphis.about.com/od/septemberevents/p/midsouthfair.htm
