A Star, or a Leading Light?

'Charity begins at home' and many celebrities strongly seem to believe so. Although selfish motives of publicity may have induced such compassion in some, it is an indisputable fact that there are a number of stars, who earnestly work for a cause.

While there are several celebrities working for different charitable causes, here are a few that would come to one's mind instantly: Angelina Jolie is the Global Ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and works for their
welfare. Richard Gere has been involved in a number of charitable causes including the Afghanistan Relief Organization, Cinema for Peace, and the American Foundation for AIDS Research.

Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise too support several social causes. Sandra Bullock donated $1 million for Tsunami Relief and demonstrated her passion for humanitarian causes. The youngest in the list is Masiela Lusha of 'The George Lopez Show', who has established her own foundation to help children who are deprived of basic needs. The support extended by these celebrities, to people in need, makes us wonder if each of them is merely a star, or a leading light?
