Top 5 Square Enix Video Game Franchises

Square Enix is the top publisher for Japanese role-playing games. Since the merger between Enix and Square Soft (two of the biggest publishers in Japan previously), Square Enix now has the most popular Japanese role-playing franchises under its belt. Here are the top five video game
 franchises from Square Enix.

5. Grandia
Probably one of the most underrated role-playing franchises, Grandia is known for its top notch battle system. The innovative combat takes into account the amount of time and space needed to prepare an action in battle. As a result, you have an engaging experience fighting through the numerous battles. The first two games in the Grandia franchise are by far the best due to the fact that each of them has an engrossing story to match the gameplay.

4. Star Ocean
Unlike most traditional Japanese Role-Playing games, the battle system in the Star Ocean franchise is done completely in real-time. Although the games are unapologetically challenging, they are also enormously fun as well. Not to mention that the games are one of the deepest games with the genre with countless collectibles, optional quests, and items to create. The Star Ocean games, especially the first two, offer plenty of content for your money.

3. Kingdom Hearts
Licensed games are traditionally bad; so the initial reaction to a game that combines Disney with Final Fantasy was a bit pessimistic. Square Enix proved everyone wrong when they released Kingdom Hearts. Not only did the game implement both popular brands perfectly, it also crafted its very own identity. This is because Kingdom Hearts offers an unforgettable story and fun battle system. While the franchise was developed initially for Disney and Final Fantasy fans, Kingdom Hearts now has its very own set of them.
