There are over 200 million game pieces out there. That's more than one piece for every adult in the United States of America! Some pieces will be common, and others will be rare. The common ones, you'll know about right away.

Some of the rare ones are F, V, U, W, Y, N, A, L.

The big prize is $100,000, but the odds of winning that are 1 in 42.5 million. In comparison, the odds of winning a 6/49 lotto are 1 in 15 million. Your odds of playing in the NFL, NBA, or MLB are better.

The pieces can be used only once, when they're entered into the game's website. Once entered, the piece can't be used again, so, don't post the letter codes online. They'll get used up immediately. Also, to claim the big prizes, you'll need to produce the actual ticket with the letter on it. So, to exchange letters, you need to do it over email, or trade them on eBay or a similar site.

Don't Enter Codes for Every Piece

If you enter a code for a piece, and you've already got that code, the letter will sit in your tray and is unusable. It's better to just hold on to it for trading. Also, a few letters, like R, I, M, can be placed in more than one location. You might as well keep them in the tray until you need them. (Incidentally, if you do enter the codes and fill up all the spaces on the tray, the tray will scroll to allow all of them to be kept.)

Or Don't Enter Codes At All

If you intend to trade or sell pieces, don't enter the codes at all. Instead, you should pick up a game flyer at the restaurant and use that to track your progress.

Or Enter Them All

Conversely, you can win an instant prize any time you enter a code. If you're into winning smaller prizes, this is a reasonable option. Some of the smaller prizes include membership to pogo.com, Hasbro toys, board games, $100 and $25 gift cards, and a few other things. The odds of winning these are between 1 in 58,000 to 1 in 6 million.

Play with Friends

Unless you want to eat a lot of subway and drink too much soda, play with your friends and pool the pieces. Split the winnings, or have the "winner" pay the others for the prize. You just need cash on hand to pay folks off. To keep it fair, you might want to set the "value" of the prizes to, say, 90% of the retail price.
