Without a shadow of a doubt, Tom Cruise has been the most influential person of 2006. No other man (not involved in international affairs) has managed to drum up so much attention that he overtakes the President of the United States of America in precedence on news channels. No other man has managed to be so controversial and so vehemently disliked and still manage to score big at the box office. Whether hes railing on psychiatry, getting married in Italy or doing what scientologists do best, Tom Cruise is undoubtedly one of the most influential people of 2006, if not the most influential person to begin with. The media has always had a certain fascination with the life of celebrities and this has never been any different with Tom Cruise. However, after the display that he put on in the public eye in 2005 one would think that he would be hard pressed to duplicate the amount of spotlight that was placed on the Hollywood Heavyweight. However, Cruise managed to keep his head high and bulldoze into 2006 with a gauntlet of headlines and controversies. Cruise was introduced to fatherhood for the third time, though this would be the first time it would be his own child, his other two children with Nicole Kidman were adopted. Paramount pictures decided to split with Tom Cruise, forcing him and his company to form United Artists, which he will produce and act for. Mission: Impossible 3, in which cruise starred, managed to rake in $47 million in its first weekend and go on to amass over $133 million in its outing.
With such success, one would think that Tom Cruise would finally be returning to normalcy, that with the birth of his father something would click in the man and send him hurdling back down to earth and realize whats been going on for the past for years, because if you truly look at things, Tom Cruise was loved by the public for a very long time. Nevertheless, Mr. Cruise proved that nothing you expect from him will ever be normal again. In fact, in a USA Today/Gallop poll, roughly fifty percent registered views that were negative of the actor because of his zany antics.
