Le Mistral
The Top French Restaurants in Houston

Le Mistral is one of my favorite French restaurants in Houston. Le Mistral serves French cuisine coupled with fantastic wines. Some standouts for me was the filet of red snapper which was perfectly seasoned . Also good is the filet de boeuf encased in decorative pastry with an earthy morel sauce. My favorite is the rack of lamb, served au jus, accompanied by a lovely jumble of pesto-punched cauliflower and haricots verts. Enjoy a nice glass of wine with your meal, the wine list is wonderful and full of values. For dessert, chocolate souffle is fabulously dark and rich. Also good is the intense vanilla creme brulee. The service is always excellent, my server was attentive and prompt.

Chez Nous
Chez Nous is a award wining French restaurant that serves classic French cuisine. the usual suspects--like chateaubriand, foie gras, vichyssoise and escargot anchor the menu, but expect a couple of entrees and a half dozen appetizers to change each evening. For an appetizer, I had the Normandy Duck Mousse with plum wine and pickled cherries. For my main course I enjoy the succulent rack of lamb, carved right at my table. For dessert, I enjoyed one of Chez Nous specialty pastry. The Chez Nous is my first choice when dining out in Houston, superb food and great service that makes you feel special. Chez Nous is where I had one of my best French food experiences ever.

Bistro Provence
The wines are French and desserts include natural citrus sorbets, rice pudding with caramel and baba au rhum, a grainy sponge cake smothered in rhum syrup with a poached apricot and whipped cream. Be prepared to be wowed. The service was friendly and excellent. The food delicious, from the starters through to dessert. The wine list also very good and came with knowledgeable recommendations. Bistro Provence is small with tables close to each other, which can sometimes stir impromptu interesting conversations with those next to you!
