Other routes to pursuing job openings in this field are:

1) Tune into your local employment ads, call your local centers (consult your Yellow Pages “Telephone Answering Services” or “Telecommunications” sections) to inquire about available work-at-home positions

2) Ask around, especially on Work-At-Home forums, such as the one found at ClubMom® http://www.clubmom.com/jforum/forums/show/16.page?lastMid=204115.

Lastly, when you are applying for an at-home Call Center Representative position, be cautious of companies or individuals who require an upfront fee for information or investment money for software or training. Remember, this is a job, and like any viable form of employment through a reputable company, you should expect to receive a paycheck from the company for your work. You should not be giving the company your money in order to procure work.

  • These jobs require you have motivation, excellent verbal skills, basic computer knowledge (including data entry,) and the ability to focus on details.
  • Equipment needs will include a computer with Internet access, a telephone, and telephone line.
  • Typical pay for an at-home Call Center Representative ranges from $7-$10 per hour. With incentive programs, $11-$20, and upwards, may be possible.

It is becoming more prominent for fees to be included as an investment in indpendent contractor positions. Whether called a processing fee, certiifcation fee or background check fee it is an investment that you make to begin your home based business. My advice to be to find out what the fee is for before discluding any company that does have an minimal investment. Also keep in mind that as an independent contractor even though there may not be any monetary benefits, there are many benefits that will still be cost effective and may make affording an outside source of benefits much more obtainable.
There are some places that hire employees and a few of them offer benefits.
