Holidays are a time when our memories seem to be working the best in our lives. Holidays and vacations are exciting times and are what most people remember as the good times in their lives. And now is the time to start making more holiday memories, hopefully good ones. Not all of our holiday memories are good some are bad like the time you opened up the remote control car as a child and didnt get any batteries. Being Christmas you could go out and buy any batteries although I think that has changed now; some places are open that you can go to buy batteries. Our minds tend to let those bad memories fade away some as we get older and that is a good thing. Some of the good memories seem to fade as well.Memories are a highly intangible and generally untouchable item in our mind. It materializes and is preserved in front of our eyes through a photograph or video tape. Modern technology can record history like never before. People keep diaries and journals drawing pictures or writing in there diary or journal to help them preserve there memories. A smell, sound, taste or touch can bring on memories good and bad right to the surface of our being. Memories are important, they keep us safe, bring us cheer and help us remember who we are and who our loved ones are. We like to taste something good that brings back pleasant memories for us or view something that makes us happy from the past. Some folks love to walk through antique shops because they are a bounty of memories for us through sight, smell and touch.
Our memories are working all the time we are constantly absorbing new information in our minds to keep for a later date when it will come to the surface when needed. Good memories bring pleasure, happiness and excitement; the bad memories can make us do bad things it is how we react to those things that are important. Our memories are responsible for the way we are and the things we do. We are our memories.
