Yahoo Offers Their "Buzz Up" DIGG-Like Sharing Tool to All Users

Share Your Associated Content Articles on Yahoo Buzz to Get More PVs

Yahoo announced today that it will allow all writers, bloggers, and web sites to use the DIGG-like sharing tool they call Yahoo Buzz and allow readers to Buzz Up a story they like. If your story gets large numbers of Buzz Up counts, along with other selection criteria, it could
hit the front page of Yahoo and drive millions of viewers to your article or blog post. If you have a Yahoo email account or already submit your AC content to sharing locations like your Yahoo My Web account, it is simple to share your content on Yahoo Buzz. I submitted my first AC article about Michael Phelps drinking a new sports drink made by a UT Austin professor and got 3 Buzz Ups within 15 minutes without even emailing or sharing the Buzz submission with anyone.

You register your AC content on Yahoo Buzz just like you do on DIGG:

First, you submit the AC article URL and title.
Next, you write a short summary about the AC article.
Then you select a category and type of text.
Click Submit and share with all your friends so they can Buzz Up your content.

In addition, Yahoo makes available several graphic buttons and widgets to embed into your blog posts and web pages to allow readers to Buzz Up your text, video, or audio content and drive traffic to your site. If you have advanced HTML skills, Yahoo provides script code to embed into your web page or blog theme template that will automatically pull page specific URL information into the Buzz Up submission process. Once the blog post is submitted, readers can simply press the Buzz Up button to add counts to your post.

Yahoo decided to open its Buzz program to all users after testing it with a limited number of publishers. Unlike DIGG where your submission to front page is based strictly on DIGG counts, Yahoo uses Buzz Up counts and information from Yahoo searches, emails, and editor opinion to place a story on the front page of Yahoo. This new Yahoo social sharing tool promises to give DIGG a run for their content and the Buzz buzz gets out.

I tried this service out a few days ago. First thing I noticed was the lack of conversation(no comment system. Every basic social bookmark site has a comment system.
