U.S. Men and Women to Both Play for Gold in Olympic Beach Volleyball

Both a U.S. Men's Team and a U.S. Women's Team Have Qualified to Play in Their Respective Gold Medal Matches of Beach Volleyball

In a rare opportunity, the United States will now have the chance to take home a Gold Medal in both Men's and Women's Beach Volleyball after the second seeded Men's team of Rogers/Dalhausser cruised into the Men's Gold Medal Match.
Paired against the team of Geor and Gia from Georgia, they looked very dominating early on, and won the first two sets of the match 21-11 and 21-13 to secure a spot in the Gold Medal final of Men's Beach Volleyball. They looked very good on both an offensive and defensive view of the game, and it never appeared close in the semi-final match-up. Dalhausser stood out, providing the United States duo with 3 service aces as well as 9 blocks on their opponents. The win took them only 42 minutes to complete, and gives them a chance to bring home another Gold Medal for the United States.

On the Women's side, the combination of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh once again proved to be a force to be reckoned with, as they mowed down the competition on their way to the Women's Final. The defending Gold Medalists from the Athens Olympics, and the current Women's World Champions in Beach Volleyball, Walsh and May-Treanor have been virtually unstoppable in the Beijing, Olympics. Though they have a personal winning streak of over 100 matches, and have not lost competitively in 2008, the most telling sign of how well they have been playing Volleyball, is that they have not even lost a single set in the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. This type of success is unequalled in the history of the sport, and they now head into their own finals against China as the over-whelming favorite to bring home another Gold Medal.

They won yesterday, didn't they? And I agree -- shrub is having Waayy too much fun.

Maybe if they win, Bush will actually be man enough to smack her on the butt. Between you and me, Ryan, I thought his backhand across the small of the back was pathetic. Here's a lameduck president with nothing to lose (damned sure not his dignity or good reputation) unable to perform the sportsmanly butt smack. Every announcer I heard talk about it said his decision was "wise." I thought the entire episode rather ridiculous. His ratings would probably have spiked 15-20 points if he would have popped her offered behind.

Great article, I think that women are more likely to win then the men though.
