A Gold Medal for Shawn Johnson

After Three Silver, Now Beaming with Gold

Hardwork really pays off. This is what 16-year old gymnast champ Shawn Johnson has proven after winning gold in the last event of women's gymnast competition.

The young lady of Des Moines, Iowa, who won her lone Olympic gold medal, entertained people not just by her show and sportsmanship, but, most of the time have carried the brightest smile among all

Johnson scored 16.225 points over teammate Nastia Liukin, who scored 16.025 and settled with Silver, while China's Fei Cheng at 15.950 that made the latter landed in bronze.

Despite headache and stomach ache prior to the event, and a shaky balance beam routine, Johnson with all the motivations and encouragement from her coach Liang Qiao persevered seven times in practicing her routines, before she finally proceeded to the competition.

Not withstanding all odds, she delivered her best; a performance so close to perfection, and a beaming smile of a true winner in the end.

"I never felt so proud and so relieved," Johnson told the Associated Press.

"I finished off the Olympic Games, to me, the most perfect ending ever," she added.

Both Johnson and Nastia Liukin played high during this competition, and over-all contributed remarkably in the history of United States Women's Gymnastics. Bringing home a total of two golds, six silvers, and a single bronze in their loot bags, making America so happy and proud.
