Unique Uses for Fresh Garden Herbs

They Are Good for More Than Just Cooking!

Fresh garden herbs add unique flavor and aroma to foods and beverages, and unlike dried herbs they add beauty and fragrance to the garden. Fragrant and flavorful garden
herbs are good for more than just cooking. If you have a garden filled with herbs, consider the following unique and practical uses. Garden herbs have many unique uses that many people are unaware of, and these practical and unique uses for garden herbs go far beyond the kitchen.

Precautionary Statement

Use the following herbal treatments with caution to avoid possible allergic reactions. Use commonsense, and check for irritations and other problems using smaller amounts before fully using these and any other herbal remedies.

Natural Tooth Cleaner

Along with your regular fluoride toothpaste, use fresh garden sage leaves as a natural and unique tooth cleanser. Pick a fresh sage leaf, and wash it under cool water. Rub it over teeth and gums for a natural cleanser that will leave your mouth feeling fresh and amazingly clean. Your breath will smell fresher too!

Aromatic Mulch

Natural wood mulch has an amazing aroma, but natural wood mulch and fresh herbs together smell even better. Trim herbs often for full and bountiful plants, and use the castoffs to add scent to flowerbeds and garden paths. Mulch fresh cuttings, and sprinkle them wherever you want the unique scent of your favorite fresh herbs. Nothing will go to waste, and fresh garden herbs will grow more abundantly than ever. Just make sure they have not gone to seed or you might end up with herbs in undesirable locations.

Unique Breath Freshener

Parsley has long been touted for freshening breath after a meal, but did you know that fresh watercress or crushed nettle leaves will do the same? Instead of using mouthwash after a particularly pungent meal, chew on a freshly washed nettle leaf or fresh watercress. Breath freshener provided by nature works far better than a stick of gum or anything in a bottle. It costs far less too!
