Usain Bolt's 200-Meter World Record May Be Noted as One of the Olympics Most Memorable Moments

Although I am an avid Olympic's fan, I don't get to watch as often as I like especially since the broadcast from Beijing starts so late in America, however, I was fortunate enough to catch the excitement of Track and Field last night.

It can be described as breathtaking and exciting and will no doubt go down as one of the most memorable moments in Olympic history. Just checking out the men's 200 meter race where Usain Bolt blew everyone away made me sit up and take notice even though it was past my bedtime and I was

dead tired. Bolt sprinted into the history books one day before his 22nd birthday and the crowd went wild. Although he clearly had first place around the last bend and within view of the finish line, he accelerated and finished fast setting a new world record at 19:30 on the clock. Upon finishing he laid backward on the track with his arms stretched out. He took off his gold sneakers and grabbed his native Jamaican flag and draped it over his shoulders as he took his victory lap.

They replayed his stunning victory and also showed Micheal Johnson's reaction to Bolt's breaking his record and it was funny to see his expressions which were a mix of joy and happiness and not so much disbelief.

Imagine the excitement last night of witnessing a new world record and watching it live. The reporters were going crazy with the coverage spitting out superlatives and demonstrating their shock and awe of the amazing race. They couldn't contain their excitement and it resonated with the viewers as well as we just watched it taking place with Bolt's amazing energetic run. Just as Bolt turned the corner and neared the finish line you could tell something great was happening. Not only did he blow the competition away but he beat Johnson's world record which had previously been touted in news coverage as one of the greatest Olympic moments. No on can take away the greatness of Johnson but Bolt has pushed that aside and has shown us a new generation of Olympic greatness.
