Skills to Work On in High School that can Prepare You for College
Preparing for College While in High School
High School is the first step towards the "real world" and it is a time to prepare for the second step, which is college. It is important to develop and practice good study habits, while in high school to prepare for college.Use an agenda book and keep it organized.
Some Middle and High Schools, give students agenda books. Agenda books or day planners can help students with remembering assignments, test/quizzes or other momentous events. Forgetting the day of a test could bring down a grade. In college there are times that one failing grade can ruin chances of passing the class.
It is smart for high school students to keep an agenda book to make sure that all is remembered and that time is used wisely. To help keep an agenda
organized remember to include the date in which the assignment was assigned and its due date. Also note the subject of the assignment.
If keeping an agenda book is practiced through high school then once a student is in college they will already be accustomed to keeping up with assignments
and other important events. Colleges and Universities are always busy and there is always an event whether it is a party or a club meeting. Using an agenda
book will also help keep track of the many events and also help you with time management.
Use time wisely.
Two weeks can go by quickly and before a student realizes, a project is due. That is why it is good to use time wisely. In the college help manual, The Freshman Year: Making the Most of College, "A good starting point is to identify how, where, and when you use your time." A student should make sure there is time for studying, homework, activities, and personal fun time.
Also in the manual, it advises making a priority list of things to do. With school and other issues that students may have to deal with, it is imperative to have personal time available to help to relieve stress. If students are able to use time wisely through high school then it will be easy managing club and organization's meetings and also parties.
