Oprah Winfrey Blasted By 50 Cent

Rapper Says Oprah Panders To White Audiences

50 Cent isn't happy with daytime TV's most popular talk show host.

The popular rapper blasted Oprah Winfrey for being out of touch with her cultural roots. He's accusing her of catering to a white audience, while ignoring the rap community. In Elle Magazine, the tough rapper says, "She started out with black women's
views, but has been catering to middle-aged white American women for so long she's become one herself."

Oprah has been targeted by other rappers. Ludacris complained that Oprah doesn't respect his opinion, and she didn't treat him properly when he appeared on her show with cast members of the film "Crash." Oprah fired back that Ludacris and other rappers must take responsibility for song lyrics, just as she feels an obligation to the content of her talk show.

50 Cent further told Elle Magazine that Oprah essentially has boycotted the Rap music world by simply not booking any rap artists onto her show. While other rappers charge that 50 Cent may be seeking to strengthen his street cred by creating a controversy with Oprah, where none exists.

On the surface, it seems each party in this dispute - which Oprah has said she'll have no further comment on - has some legitimate issues. 50 Cent is one of the biggest rap stars in music. Oprah has the biggest daytime talk show. Why wouldn't 50 Cent by invited onto the show?

50 Cent dismisses Oprah as being disengaged from the black community, catering to older whites and essentially not worth his time. Why then are we hearing from him? Oprah, as a popular broadcaster, has a vested interest to bring hot topics to her show, but if her audience doesn't like rap for the most part, why would she book rappers? It reminds me of having to watch Johnny Carson because my parents liked him. When I got the chance, I'd watch something else or wait until David Letterman came on, since he was the hip, young show at the time.

50 Cent's displeasure with Oprah appears as one of generation gap, than of a cultural one. If a show on the BET network or MTV catering to urban music and rap suddenly started inviting Martha Stewart on or Faith Hill, their audience would be a little shocked.

50 cent need to do his homework. First of all, Oprah has done a lot for the black community. She DO NOT have to support 50 cent's trash talking lyrics. But, I do. Have you heard his new CD? It's off the hook!

I am so "over" Oprah and 50 cent. I personally could give two sh*ts less if either of them dropped off the face of the earth tomorrow. But that is simply my opinion and opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one, right? :)

I don't see how he can say that after her controversial statements about white people lately. I think that Oprah is a hypocrite in a lot more ways than one, but I agree that most rappers lyrics SHOULD be dismissed.

I agree on one point 50 did make that she does cater to white females since it was pretty diverse in early years, but as time went on the majority of the audience were slowly descending into white females. White women today behave as if they're the ones with all the issues and problems and that it's all about them when in fact the world is a little more colorful than some of these one sided white girls really think. I respect Oprah, but there's a serious disturbance in terms of the ethnicity and race of her audience if she's so popular look at why blacks arent supporting her?

Hm, I'm not likely to take advice on who to like from 50 Cent. Does anybody?

I love 50. He's One Of My Favorites But He's Wrong On This One. How Can He Talk Crap About One Of The Strongest and Wealthiest Black Women In U.S. History But Ignore The Racist and Biased Rap Opinions Of Bill O'Reilly? 50 Needs To Loosen Up The Du-Rag A Bit So He Can Think Clearer.

50 cent doesnt talk bad about women nearly as bad as the next rapper out there. If anything, 50 has been CRITICIZED for being a "pop artist" who talks about girls in nice ways - 21 Questions, Best Friend, Smile, So Amazing, Build You Up, and now Leave Em Alone with Ciara....DNM - 50 cent is not responsible for what your kids do. He lives in Connecticut, and 75% of the people who buy his cds are probably wealthy upper class white people. If I remember correctly, the guy who shot up VT didnt say he wanted to be like 50 Cent...? Renee Shelton - 50 Cent does have a life, probably a 900X more successful life than you do ($400 million vitamin water deal a couple months ago????)...THE END!

I'm sorry but I wouldn't want anyone on my show either if they are not promoting quality educational, non-degrading, non-profanity lyrics either. Our kids are getting mess up with these lyrics, what they see they want to be. Why can't all rappers do one ALL positive record about learning, education, living a life a legit way. Just ONE record. It would be interesting to see what sells and what catches on with our youth today.
