Ergosterol, skin oil, changes into Vitamin D when exposed to the sun. The Vitamin D is then absorbed into the blood where the intestines find it beneficial in aiding the bodies ability to take in greater amounts of Calcium and Phosphorus. To get the proper amount of D from the sun takes just ten minutes without sunscreen or SPF products. Sitting by a sunny window, taking a brief walk, eating a snack outdoors or doing some gardening are all ways to easily fit getting Vitamin D into a busy schedule.

Vitamin D is Calcium’s pal and it is key in answering distress calls throughout the body. Anytime Calcium needs must be met to insure survival Calcium will be borrowed from bones or teeth and taken to the crucial area. Vitamin D helps make this happen. Fibrillation, fluttering of the heart, occurs because Calcium drops near depletion and must be obtained quickly. Thanks to Vitamin D and the signal it sends Calcium will temporarily be borrowed.

Fish oil, egg yolks, and milk contain Vitamin D or you can take it in pill form. If you don’t get enough Vitamin D and become deficient there are some symptoms you can watch out for. Keep in mind that these symptoms can be caused by other problems.

1) Extremely pale people may be lacking Vitamin D.2) Brittle Weak Bones and Fragile Teeth3) Cramping Muscles

4) Insomnia

5) Slow Healing of Bruises and Cuts

6) Racing Heart

7) Nosebleeds

8) Irritability and Pain Sensitivity

9) Cataracts and Nearsightedness

As wonderful as Vitamin D is in keeping a healthy body it can be toxic when consumed in large amounts. Large doses will build up in the liver unlike vitamins such as C or the B vitamin family. Vitamin C, A and Choline will reduce toxic levels of Vitamin D when taken in abundance. Use caution and try not to go to crazy with Vitamin A, large doses of A can also be toxic. You may have Vitamin D poisoning as indicated by the signs below.

1) Fatigue

2) Headaches and Dizziness

3) Thirst

4) Appetite Loss, Nausea, and Vomiting

5) Prickly Feeling in Fingers and Toes6) Sensitive Muscles, Joints, and Teeth

7) Pain in the abdomen, Constipation or Diarrhea

8) Bone Calcification and Artery Hardening
