Oprah Winfrey has become the latest target of 50 Cent, the bad boy rapper whose outspokenness has started many a feud. 50 Cent, who is sometimes known as ‘Fiddy’ or ‘Fitty’, told Elle magazine that Oprah is an “Oreo” who has forgotten her black roots and now mainly caters to middle-aged white women.

It's not the first time that rappers have expressed their resentment that Oprah doesn’t want to represent on her show. After Ludacris, Ice Cube and 50 Cent complained about her in June 2006, Oprah broke out her Ipod to prove that she listened to hip hop, and she stated that she has no beef with the hip hop community. At the same time, she let it be known that she doesn’t like any music that glorifies violence, uses bad language and denigrates women. Oprah is certainly not going to even seem to endorse anything that demeans women. Her message is one of empowerment.

Oprah’s charitable causes are known all over the globe. A 1997 episode ofOprah’s show asked viewers to try to make a difference in the lives of others. This led to the creation of Oprah's Angel Network in 1998. This charitable organization has since raised more than $50 million that has been donated to non-profit organizations all over the world.

To get some input from regular people on this topic, I interviewed a middle-aged white woman named Nancy and a middle-aged black woman named Tonya, to find out how they feel about Oprah’s show and 50 Cent’s criticism.

Hello, Ladies. I’d like to ask you some questions to get your opinion on 50 Cent’s nefarious comments about Oprah Winfrey. Y’all both know who 50 Cent is, right?

Nancy: Yes, I’ve heard of him. He’s a rap artist.
Tonya: Yes, he is.

50 Cent says that Oprah caters to middle-aged white woman, and he called her an "Oreo." He has said that Oprah audience is his audience's parents. He said and I quote "She started out with black women's views but has been catering to middle-aged white American women's views for so long that she's become one herself." Do you agree with any of his statements?

I used to watch Oprah when I was a stay-at-home Mom. I love the fact that she gives of herself and her money to not just the USA but the entire world. It proves that her heart is endless. It is also one of the better role models we have today. She names everything after herself just like plenty before her. Think of Carnegie Hall for example. No one seems to have knocked that effort or donation. Why because a Man did it. Perhaps Oprah remembers that she is not immortal and wants her legacies to be remembered when she is gone like so many others before her. I used to respect 50 Cent for his accomplishments to date, but this makes me take it down a notch. Oprah has a right to who she invites on Her Show. Thanks for another great article and more knowledge I hadn't been privy to!
