Ok I admit; Im on it. I like it and love it but quite honestly it is very addictive. I use to be on it way more than I am now. That it is Myspace and it is a little secret that many employees have until the employers network guys find a way to block the site. I would estimate that most employees spend more time on Myspace than they do in doing actual work in a given day. There is something about being able to place a name with a face that makes Myspace fun. I like instant messenger and use to constantly be on IM too. However Myspace takes it to a whole new level. With the proper use, Myspace can be an effective marketing too. Film makers have used Myspace as an avenue to promote movies and have a common area where fans can join or show support. Some musicians like the new singing sensation Cassie build Myspace fan bases and then pursue lucrative record deals. Some publicists insist that having a Myspace page is all the rage and the way to go to get free promotion.
While it can be a good tool for some businesses and individuals; Myspace can and has become addictive to many. Here are 5 reasons why MySpace may be too addictive:
1) Getting notices from Myspace friends drives you back to the site: Often you go on Myspace to connect with friends. You make new friends or simply keep the ones you have. When they send you a comment or shoot a Myspace message you get and e-mail in your inbox. This email prompts you to log into Myspace. If you get enough friends or make enough contact, you will eventually minimize Myspace in your background while you do work. I know some people whom just love to give and get comments so they stay logged onto Myspace all day. Receiving and giving comments and sending e-mails with pictures are an addictive process.
