AudioSnacks.com : Get a Personal Tour At the Location of Your Choice

Audio Itineraries a Big Hit With Travelers

Thanks to iPod and MP3 technology, getting a personal tour at the location of your choice is easier than ever. Audiosnacks.com (www.audiosnacks.com) takes the hassle out of tour groups -- no more waiting for the entire group to stay together, no
more silly questions, no more worrying about tipping the tour guide. Audiosnacks.com has created an online community where visitors can find, purchase, download and listen to unique audio tours that people have created to share the best of their environments.

Of course you’ve heard of the term “sightseeing.” Well, Audiosnacks.com is taking that one step further by providing tours that can only be referred to as “sound-seeing.” Audiosnacks.com has jumped on the coat tails of the current boom of podcasting and works the same way as downloading radio shows, video and music to an MP3 player or an iPod. Specifically, audio tour guides provide recorded narrations of their travels. Audiosnacks.com was developed to serve as a portal for the exchange of non-typical travel and destination related information that hasn't been available until now.

Michael Salvatore, Founder and President of Audiosnacks.com commented on the birth of Audiosnacks.com. “…Like many individuals, I love to travel, but I don't love looking like a tourist or being overly committed to a rigid tour group schedule, so the idea for AudioSnacks came to me while traveling the world last year somewhere between the ancient ruins of Machu Pichu and the beautiful beaches of Bali…"

That idea being “wouldn’t it be great if I had my own personal tour guide that would accompany me step-by-step on my travels” and thus Audiosnacks.com was born.

Audiosnacks can’t be everywhere at once so it relies on its many contributors to provide audio content. Audiosnacks.com offers dozens and dozens of sound-seeing tours and membership is free. Once signed up, visitors can begin finding the perfect audio tour(s), and for a small price can start downloading right away.

This is true, but I think the whole concept of these tours is that you download them to TAKE THEM WITH YOU! Once you get to your destination, just press play and enhance the experience on your time and your terms! What a great idea!!!

Interesting concept, but it'll never replace actually being there. That being said, it's probably a next-best for people who can't get to those places because of physical, financial, or time limitations, which is probably a majority of us.
