Tourism in our National Parks is on the decline as of the last 10 years the National Parks are seeing fewer people coming through there gates.. Fewer visitors are going to see our National Parks with overnight stays down 20 percent. Camping is down approximately 24 percent and it is starting to worry the park rangers. Almost all the National Parks are seeing a decline in the Tourist even Yosemite National Park in California. In the past Yosemite was very worried about there visitor load and traffic jams but since there are less people coming to enjoy the park it is getting to be less of a worry.
Families with children typically slow down in the parks starting in the fall because children have school and other activities start up for them making it harder for families to visit a National Park.. And retirees who use to come to the parks in the fall and winter are now choosing to go elsewhere. Some people simply cant afford to go on vacation even to a National Park that is suppose to be for everyone rich or poor, old or young, fat or thin. Peoples vacation needs are changing and agency officials admit that they are doing a poor job of advertising the National Parks in order to attract visitors. That may be a few reasons why National Parks are not seeing the amount of people they would like to see come to the National Parks.
Some people who have been loyal park visitors in the past are now deciding to vacations elsewhere. Baby boomers are changing the way they travel as they age they arent always interested in sleeping in a tent on the ground. People want to be comfortable and relaxed when they travel and they want to be waited on and taken care of. Some are more adventurous and like the water parks or mountain biking, things not offered at the National Parks. Baby Boomers want to have very exciting days with a lot of activity and they want quiet nights when they can be pampered.
