Jainism is, in many ways, similar to Buddhism and Hinduism as dharma and karma are elements of all three religions. The basis and central truth of Jainism is also in similar practices. Jains believe that lives are the result of our own deeds. We should keep our minds and passions controlled. Liberation, it is believed, is only possible for humans. Humans through Ahimsa (non-violence)--in action and words, Aparigraha (non-attachment)--to materials and beings, and Anekantwad (non-absolutism)--understanding that the truth has many sides all being relative, can cleanse their own karmic accumulation, destructive and non-destructive karmas, until one becomes Jiva, a winner over the passions and therefore achieves kevala--boundless vision, infinite righteousness, strength, perfect bliss, and existence without form with a body that is neither light nor heavy.
