Madonna Attacks John McCain

And Then Maybe Wishes She Hadn't

Most conservative politicians ignore celebrities when the diss them. After all, who cares what some actor or rock star thinks about anything? Not so John McCain when Madonna compared him to both Hitler and Robert Mugabe. McCain hit back.

Madonna had started off her "Sticky and Sweet" tour before a crowd in Cardiff in Wales when, during a performance of Get Stupid, she had the image of John McCain flashed up on the screen with that of Adolf Hitler, Robert Mugabe, and images of destruction

and global warming. Just to drive the point home, this was followed by images of Barack Obama, Gandhi, John Lennon, and Al Gore. The message was obvious; John McCain bad, Barack Obama good.

The usual response from a conservative politician is to yawn and ignore the slight. Madonna, after all, has been given to doing silly things for decades. Her stereotypical MTV video consists of her writhing in bed, wearing trashy lingerie, and touching herself while singing something suggestive. Being the subject of her ire could be seen as a badge of honor. And besides, it was done in front of an audience of Welsh people who are not qualified to vote in the American Presidential election.

But John McCain, the pugnacious fighter jock and Varsity boxer, decided to hit back. And there was a method to his hitting back.

Tucker Bounds, a McCain campaign spokesman, was tasked with delivering the riposte. He said, "It clearly shows that when it comes to supporting Barack Obama, his fellow worldwide celebrities refuse to consider any smear or attack off limits."

Get it. "Fellow worldwide celebrities." The McCain Campaign, having compared Barack Obama to Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears, has now used the occasion of Madonna's attack to compare their opponent to another famous bimbo, which is to say, Madonna.

And Thomas, are you TRYING to be clever with your mention of Gary Glitter? Lemme see here ... McCain is held for 5.5 years as a POW and Glitter is held for a couple of years for SEXUALLY ABUSING CHILDREN!!!!! Yea, they're the same, aren't they? Your words are yet another example of moral relativism the Left loves to toss out as some justification for their positions. BTW, Gary Glitter is a UK citizen, so he can't run for president of these United States so you can't vote for him. And if you're a Brit, thus NOT an American, STFU! No one except the radical Left gives a rat's ass about what the world thinks. The more I read your response the more I realize I am responding to an idiot. Good luck with that!

Whether or not McCain has character matters little to me. We all know that Madonna does not. That picture is excellent.

Ahhhh Thomas..., check yourself Brother, and while you're at it, check your history. Nixon inherited Vietnam from DEMOCRATS. He took office in 1969. Johnson stepped up the war in March 1965 Sir. And Nixon ended the war. After the North decided to walk away from the peace tables Nixon stepped up the bombing of Hanoi & Haiphong and the Commies quit in 2 weeks. And no one except you haters are claiming someone is saying because McCain was a POW he is fit for the Presidency. But character counts - A LOT!!!!!!!!!!! When it comes to character McCain has it in spades. McCain was offered early release and he instead adhered to the military chain of command and insisted he would leave AFTER all who were captured previous to him were released as well. THAT IS CHARACTER, and that is what McCain has over the Messiah, who has nothing. Obama is afraid to have townhalls w/ McCain. That's a LACK OF CHARACTER.

There were many heroes in Vietnam - and there are many freshly bloodied heroes returning from new wars started by old men - and John McCain's claim is tarnished by long forgotten historical facts that few are brave enough to proffer today for fear of vicious attack on their "patriotism". When the Vietnam POWS came home in 1973, President Nixon traded a small group of them celebrity status - anointing them as "heroes" - for political support of his failed war policies. John McCain was one of the anointed heroes while others were virtually discarded in exchange for their continued support of the false Nixon plan of "peace with honor" in Vietnam. The McCain campaign (and you) keeps emphasizing that McCain was a prisoner in Vietnam, as proof of his qualification for the Presidency. Well, so was Gary Glitter, and I'm not voting for him either

McCain put his life on the line for the country in which Madonna made millions. She should worship not disrespect the man that helped make her great. But headlines are more important to her than due respect to a war hero.
