HCG Diet Marketed by Convicted Fraud Kevin Trudeau

FTC Fraudster Back in the Game and Taking Money from Diet Hopefuls

I am a sucker for new diets. When the Britney Spears Diet was announced last week, I was front and center, ready to take notes. Thus, when the HCG diet info was released today, I once more sharpened my pencil to take notes. This is when I ran across
HCG Diet Marketed by Convicted Fraud Kevin Trudeau
the name of Kevin Trudeau linked intimately with HCG diet info. The connection causes me to wonder: is the HCG diet for real or is it another weight loss cure I don't want to know about?

What is the HCG diet?

In simplest terms, the HCG diet requires the injection of hCG, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a hormone secreted by a pregnant woman's placenta during pregnancy. Couple this with a 500 calorie daily intake and you are supposed to drop unsightly fat instead of lean muscle mass.

As such, this impossible diet will help you shed between ½ and three pounds per day. If you are still coherent after a couple of days, you might actually enjoy your shrinking waistline. The HCG diet info is currently making the rounds on Oprah, Fox News and other venues that would give it some airtime.

Who is Kevin Trudeau and Why Should I Care?

Kevin Trudeau is the subject of Federal Trade Commission (FTC) lawsuits, founder of the International Pool Tour (that billiards, not swimming pools), and an alternative health and diet maven of self proclaimed fame.

After the FTC shut him down in 2004 for claiming on infomercials that his coral calcium supplement Coral Calcium Supreme cured cancer, and his Biotape pain reliever would permanently cure pain, his 2007 meet up with the FTC was no less contentious when he was held in civil contempt for the infomercial marketing of his book "The Weight Loss Cure 'They' Don't Want You to Know About" talking about, you guessed it, hCG.

Mincing words, the FTC objected to the marketing effort suggestion that the diet was easy and that dieters could eat anything they wanted. Truth be told, the HCG diet was created by one Dr. A. T. W. Simeons in the 1950s, but there is also the Kevin Trudeau weight loss protocol for those observing this radical weight loss option.

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah ... But Does the HCG Diet Work?

Syliva - I seriously doubt that you "applaud" me. After reading your earlier post, I gather that it wouldn't matter what information I passed on regarding any aspect of this protocol. I refuse to engage in a battle of opinions with you or anyone else trying to justify my choices. Like I said - we're laughing at your unwillingness to entertain the fact that this actually works. Keep believing the Good Doctor, after all - "they have your best interest at heart", right? Sure. You bet. Can you say "HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY"? One of the biggest money makers is creating health problems that create repeat customers. You betcha, that doctor is going to "make you all better". Hell, they may even find a cure for obesity some day. But why would they? There's so much money to be had keeping people fat and sick. Enjoy!

Thank you all for stopping by and for commenting. April, I applaud you for finding a diet that works for you. I am not sure how this diet eliminates the flabby skin associated with massive weight gain and subsequent loss. Please tell me more.

(cont'd) The judgmental public recoils in horror when you tell them that you "inject" a substance for weightloss, but think absolutely nothing abnormal about giving themselves an insulin shot because they couldn't control their weight and developed diabetes. If a company developed an anti-wrinkle formula that you injected - even if it were made out of some nasty substance - people would be beating doors down to get some. Oh wait! My bad. Botox, anyone?

To all the skeptics that have never attempted to learn more than a quick glance at an "article" written "about hcg/weightloss": we're laughing at you. There's nothing more touching than an ignorant attack on something you know little or nothing about. I've been on the protocol for 21 days and have lost 17.6 pounds. My background in the quest for weight management is a classic story - I've tried them all. THIS IS THE ONLY PROTOCOL THAT HAS WORKED FOR ME, and evidently a multitude of others! There's no hardship to this diet, only a reduced food bill because you're eating less and eating whole foods. Time and again people testify that their weightloss on hcg is astounding; because it is! And - UNLIKE GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY - the problem with saggy, flabby skin is almost non-existent because the hcg tells your body to firm it up. The judgmental public recoils in horror when you tell them that you "inject" a substance for weighloss, but think absolutely nothing abnormal about giving themse

Thank God, I found Trudeau's book about HCG. It is the only thing that has worked in 15 years of trying everything else. I am so grateful. Not quite sure the hostility towards Trudeau but I am grateful.

(con't) My credentials: BSChE, certified Health Minister, student ND, former Certified Environmental Trainer in OSHA & Hazardous Waste, massive research for over a year, personal experience & success. The studies that show hCG works are available from Dr Belluscio in Argentina (OralHCG.com) who has been carrying on Simeons' research for many years. His clinic has produced thousands of success stories. There are many other studies available in other parts of the world where the FDA has no influence as well. The big difference between use of hCG on 500 calories & doing 500 calories/day without hCG is that hCG enables the body to access approximately 2000 calories/day from the 'brown fat', or excess fat stores, rather than the structural fat, which the body can utilize nutrients from for quite some time. This is why those using hCG do not experience hunger on 500 calories. So, if you'd like to do a follow up article featuring me, my 'credentials, and expertise front & center', I am av

Greetings! I have reduced over 50 pounds on the Protocol. My stats & Before & Afters are on my site at http://HCGCoach.com. I now coach people who are doing the Protocol to help them optimize their results. The Protocol does not have to be done by injection. I have used sublingual dosing, which assimilates the hCG into the bloodstream without going through the gastric acids naysayers claim destroys the natural protein/hormone hCG. Sublingual dosing of hCG is every bit as efficacious as injection. I obtained my first hCG from a US Pharmacy with a prescription from my doctor. After that, I purchased from a quite reliable source overseas (link on my site) because it was less expensive. It is very available from that source for anyone having difficulty getting it in the US. One does not have to have a prescription to obtain hCG from that source, though I recommend it. (continued) Sure, you mention the diet industry as the nefarious agency that has "fought this inexpensive and lasting solution to obesity for years." But this is just your word. Do you have some cold hard facts -- other than YouTube videos and testimonials? Do you have proof of this conspiracy? I am sorry, but I just don't see your side. Call me prejudiced, but I will trust those who went to medical school for a while before I trust a YouTube video. You choose your own path. Do not be offended that I will not share it and strongly urge others to refrain from doing so as well. In the meantime, those who welcome eating 500 calories or less per day will have the opportunity to check out "YouTube and the Yahoo hCGDieters Group for testimonials." Let the buyer beware.

Thank you, Ailu, for your last comments. It is obvious that for every scientific study I post, you will throw "HUNDREDS of videos by people who are doing the hCG Protocol eating 500 calories or less a day- who are NOT hungry, have plenty of energy, and feel terrific" like a gauntlet onto the virtual table. Even as you disregard scientific evidence and the testimony of professional dieticians and consider them little more than "irrational prejudice", you put your trust in personal testimonies on YouTube. At the same time, you fail to credit the testimonies of those who underwent the Minnesota Starvation Experiment. Why? What makes the positive testimonials so much more believable than the negative ones? Is it a conspiracy? By whom? Against whom? Why? (continued)
