FTC Fraudster Back in the Game and Taking Money from Diet Hopefuls
I am a sucker for new diets. When the Britney Spears Diet was announced last week, I was front and center, ready to take notes. Thus, when the HCG diet info was released today, I once more sharpened my pencil to take notes. This is when I ran across the name of Kevin Trudeau linked intimately with HCG diet info. The connection causes me to wonder: is the HCG diet for real or is it another weight loss cure I don't want to know about?What is the HCG diet?
In simplest terms, the HCG diet requires the injection of hCG, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a hormone secreted by a pregnant woman's placenta during pregnancy. Couple this with a 500 calorie daily intake and you are supposed to drop unsightly fat instead of lean muscle mass.
As such, this impossible diet will help you shed between ½ and three pounds per day. If you are still coherent after a couple of days, you might actually enjoy your shrinking waistline. The HCG diet info is currently making the rounds on Oprah, Fox News and other venues that would give it some airtime.
Who is Kevin Trudeau and Why Should I Care?
Kevin Trudeau is the subject of Federal Trade Commission (FTC) lawsuits, founder of the International Pool Tour (that billiards, not swimming pools), and an alternative health and diet maven of self proclaimed fame.
After the FTC shut him down in 2004 for claiming on infomercials that his coral calcium supplement Coral Calcium Supreme cured cancer, and his Biotape pain reliever would permanently cure pain, his 2007 meet up with the FTC was no less contentious when he was held in civil contempt for the infomercial marketing of his book "The Weight Loss Cure 'They' Don't Want You to Know About" talking about, you guessed it, hCG.
Mincing words, the FTC objected to the marketing effort suggestion that the diet was easy and that dieters could eat anything they wanted. Truth be told, the HCG diet was created by one Dr. A. T. W. Simeons in the 1950s, but there is also the Kevin Trudeau weight loss protocol for those observing this radical weight loss option.

I have used hcg injections for weight loss. I have done weight watchers, I have did hypnosis... 3 different types for weight loss, south beach, 6 week body make over, body for life and on and on. I like to staved to death on EVERYTHING except for the hcg Simeon Protocol. It was the easiest most effective diet I have ever been on. I no longer crave carbs and sweets like I use to. I lost 53 pounds in 66 weight loss days and feel good. I felt great during the entire protocol and now I am in good enough shape where I can exercise without being winded, I have joined a fitness center I am more confident, I no longer take high blood pressure pills, I can cross my legs. A bath towel will wrap all the way around me and I don't snore any more. Tell me how that can be bad? I never felt deprived or under nourished. My skin looked great. I never got the sunk in face. Most people who consume so little calories go into starvation mode, where there bodies shut down - and hold on to all of their calories. I think what this hormone is supposed to do is trick the body into not doing that.

"There's so much money to be had keeping people fat and sick".. Yes, and the billion dollar "diet" industry sure does take advantage of those deperate people! I just did some research on this currently repopularized HCG diet. http://www.tucsonmedical.com/pages/hcg.php This link gives a lot of insight into this diet from the medical community. From your posts, you seem to highly defend this diet, but you've been on it for only 21 days. What about the long term? Are you going to maintain a 500-800 calorie a day diet for the rest of your life? Rediculous! I've learned that if you lose a vast amount of weight in a short period of time, it comes back quicker. So before you go on a rant calling people "ignorant", do some intelligent research from reliable sources (such as the link I provided). Ok, everyone...I have tried this diet and you will have amazing results. I too, was very reluctant to try it, but I partnered with a friend who wanted to try it and I only planned on losing 5 lbs. I lost from 148 to 121 on the 40 day program. I have always stayed around 135-140 most of my adult life. I lost 5 inches on my middle...and at the age of 46 it was expanding no matter what I tried...just reality. I went from a tight size 4-6 to a size 0-2 on bottom. I have several friends who have gone to the same dr and had just as successful results. But ....you have to slowing add the foods back on the maintance program. I haven't gain the weight back in 7 months. You don't eat any sugar and after the first few days, you have all the energy you need and you feel great! I did drink two packets and still do of the emergen c vitamins in a bottle of water each morning. Syliva - I seriously doubt that you "applaud" me. After reading your earlier post, I gather that it wouldn't matter what information I passed on regarding any aspect of this protocol. I refuse to engage in a battle of opinions with you or anyone else trying to justify my choices. Like I said - we're laughing at your unwillingness to entertain the fact that this actually works. Keep believing the Good Doctor, after all - "they have your best interest at heart", right? Sure. You bet. Can you say "HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY"? One of the biggest money makers is creating health problems that create repeat customers. You betcha, that doctor is going to "make you all better". Hell, they may even find a cure for obesity some day. But why would they? There's so much money to be had keeping people fat and sick. Enjoy!

(cont'd) The judgmental public recoils in horror when you tell them that you "inject" a substance for weightloss, but think absolutely nothing abnormal about giving themselves an insulin shot because they couldn't control their weight and developed diabetes. If a company developed an anti-wrinkle formula that you injected - even if it were made out of some nasty substance - people would be beating doors down to get some. Oh wait! My bad. Botox, anyone?

To all the skeptics that have never attempted to learn more than a quick glance at an "article" written "about hcg/weightloss": we're laughing at you. There's nothing more touching than an ignorant attack on something you know little or nothing about. I've been on the protocol for 21 days and have lost 17.6 pounds. My background in the quest for weight management is a classic story - I've tried them all. THIS IS THE ONLY PROTOCOL THAT HAS WORKED FOR ME, and evidently a multitude of others! There's no hardship to this diet, only a reduced food bill because you're eating less and eating whole foods. Time and again people testify that their weightloss on hcg is astounding; because it is! And - UNLIKE GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY - the problem with saggy, flabby skin is almost non-existent because the hcg tells your body to firm it up. Thank God, I found Trudeau's book about HCG. It is the only thing that has worked in 15 years of trying everything else. I am so grateful. Not quite sure the hostility towards Trudeau but I am grateful.
