Five Reasons Why Solange May Become More Popular Than Beyonce
For the past decade, Beyonce Knowles has been a household name. As the "highlight" of girl group, Destiny's Child, she often claimed much of the spotlight. There are rumors that diva-like behavior behind the scenes caused a few rifts with the other young ladies
in the group. But despite media gossip, Beyonce has assumed a mighty position amongst the Hollywood elite, going on to make a virtual brand out of the Beyonce name. Following in her footsteps is little sister Solange, an equally attractive singer who is fast emerging as one of "The Younger Generation's" up-and-coming stars. The publicity attaching itself to her upcoming debut album, Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams has been gaining momentum, leaving some to wonder whether Beyonce's little sis will create a shadow bigger than her sibling's.
Reason #1: Youth Reigns Supreme?
Though music in general is timeless, there are some who believe that a female celebrity's appeal fades as she ages. In many instances, this is not the case. But even though Solange is only four years Beyonce's junior, many of her fans still associate her with the 18 year-old who released album "Solo Star" in 2003. In essence, her fan base appears to be a slightly younger one than those who have followed Beyonce's career since the late 90s. And with youth comes a surprising amount of influence and buying power.
Reason #2: Solange Appears More "Accessible"
There are several celebrity blog sites (SandraRose.com, for instance) who have implied that Beyonce is not as personable as her younger sister. While it is perhaps Beyonce's intense desire for privacy that causes people to assume so, it can be said that in the media, the "Bootylicious" singer is a celebrity who is most often seen but not heard. On the contrary, Solange has given the impression that the spotlight suits her just fine. Testament to this is her appearance on the infamous David Letterman Show. Beyonce has also made an appearance on the program. However, that event arrived much later in her career by comparison.
Reason #3: Musical Style
