Ashley Judd Speaks in Denver About Women's Issues

Ashley Judd, actor and activist, is in Denver for the DNC. Joining pro-choice activists, she traveled to a Cherry Creek neighborhood to talk about one of her most important causes, women's health and reproductive rights.

 were being taunted by anti-abortion activists. This experience framed her future passions on women's health rights, attacking poverty around the world, and serving the sick and powerless in Africa.

She knows her stuff. She makes compelling arguments. Women with good health care have fewer children. Countries that teach that condoms prevent AIDS save lives. Population explosions in India and Sub Saharan Africa create poverty, squalor, and high child mortality. She has carried her message to Nancy Pelosi and will sit with Senator Hillary Clinton tonight at the convention.

She has brought her adopted grandmother with her. They are Clinton supporters, but are hanging with Obama now. Ashley's grandmother and I shared our hopes that sometime soon, a woman will be president. We both hope it's in our lifetime. That would complete our dreams.
