I washed away the pain
Way down there beyond the trees
Never to be seen again
Down by the river niger
I cried away the hurt
Beneath the golden rays of sun
Tears upon red dirt
Dirt to clay, Sun to moon
night to day, bliss to gloom
On that ground, soiled I lay
On that night, you took away
My self respect, my womanhood
I thought they were gone for good
And so I lay still, then sleep
Breathing in the air so deep
Lying there, on Gods ground
dead violet at river niger down
