We have covered in Part 1, the different types of jewelry and what they are made of material wise, up to and including the different shapes that the jewelry typically comes in. Obviously if you have the creativity or the money to do custom pieces it might be different for you, but that piece covered the general pieces. Part 2 covered the different tools used in various piercings and the sanitization methods used for piercing. All of this is very important information to keep in mind when selecting a piercer as well as when selecting the type of piercing you want.

Please keep the following points in mind for the piercer that you select. You should ask your piercer some questions before allowing them to actually pierce you should look around and observe some things for yourself, at a minimum the following: Are the premises clan and tidy? Is the piercer sober? Is all of the staff sober in general? Is the room restricted to piercing one person at a time? After those observations from your own viewpoint you should consider asking the piercer for documentary proof of Health Department registration, last health score if applicable to your area, What types of needles are used (answer should be single use only), as well as Is all re-usable equipment autoclaved before usage? You should always tell your piercer if you have any serious medical problems, especially anything heart related, if you are pregnant or if you are breastfeeding, also if you have any transmissible blood diseases you should also tell the piercer this information so that precautions can be taken to prevent the spread. Remember that the piercers job is to make this as simple as possible, the more information you give them the better off you will be.
