denied the claims and stated that he was an easy target since he split from his girlfriend and had been seen with other women. In 1997 there were claims made against actor David Duchovny who is presently married to actress Tia Leoni stating that he had a sex addiction. Duchovny also said that he wasn't a sex addict, had never been to those meetings and that it was hurtful to his family as reported in One India.

Sex addiction has become known as a mental illness that many have and yet few actually get treated for it. According to Wikipedia sex addicts have a strong sexual desire and will often turn to prostitution, masturbation, empty affairs and other such things that fills their desire for sex.

Sex addicts are not numbered by race or gender and it plays and equal role in both. To define a sex addict you would need to look at a few traits such as their need or want for sex and it often interferes with their daily life and work habits.

If you don't think that sex addiction is something to worry about you might want to think again. Sex addicts want to fill their need for sex and this could end up with them in trouble through the law such as a sexual harassment lawsuit or with them committing such crimes as rape. Sex addiction can also leave them and those ones around them an emotional train wreck since the other person may not be able to fill their need for sex and they may feel that the other person doesn't care enough to give it to them.

Sex addicts like Duchovny may end up in higher debt than others since they will often look towards prostitutes, cyber sex, phone sex, and other types of ways that they can seek out sex even if it is only directly through masturbation.

Did anyone proof-read or edit this? It's missing a ton of commas and the second paragraph beginning doesn't even make sense. Is there something missing? Thanks for some details, but this was very difficult to read.

Rosa Hayes, why would use wikipedia as a source? Not only are you wrong about what sex addiction is, you are also wrong about the symptoms that addicts display. Probably because Wikipedia is wrong. Duh. Sex addicts are not addicted to sex. By saying that, you are demeaning people with a problem and projecting negative and potentially harmful stereotypes onto people who do not fit the labels you are putting onto them. Sex addiction comes about from deep self-loathing and relationship issues. The actual act of sex itself is just the method these people use to selfmedicate. The pleasure isn't really what these people are striving for. It's the relationship or it's a form of self-punishment and it's a vicious cycle. Rosa, if you don't know what you are talking about and if you do not know how to research well, you should not be writing for the public. Your ignorance is astounding.

Sexual addictions are a VERY serious matter in our culture and something not to be taken lightly. I commend Him for admitting to the public that he has this problem. This addiction is fueled by secrecy and the Taboo of the subject. If people can reach out and talk about it without having the narrow minded shoot them down for their efforts, I believe they and this country can progress past the point of mediocrity to better US as a whole. I share his pain and hope that people will not consider him a scumbag for his actions. Everyone has something they dont want people to know. He is merely letting that information out so he can move on and better himself.

How pathetic to you have to be to air your dirty demons to the whole world? Why does anyone care about this kind of tabloid trash anyway? Certainly there has to be more important things in this world to focus on besides some moron "actor" who feels the world needs to know about his addictions. What a loser.
