We all love out pets and having them share our home with us can be good for them and for us. Nothing saddens me more than seeing a dog left outside chained to a post or a doghouse. Our pets should be inside with us, sharing our homes and our lives in comfort. Pets sometimes have habits that make living with them uncomfortable or unsafe for them, so training becomes a necessity. Here are some training aid and a brief summary of what they are and how to use them.Pets up on the sofa
Do your pets claim the sofa and leave no space for you? Here is a simple training aid that is easy to use. Sofa Scram - this is a pressure sensitive unit that emits a loud sound when the pets jump up on the sofa. The unit uses a 9-volt battery and is approximately 12" wide and 55 ½" wide. I found it sold at Sam's Club, Amazon and through the Doctor's Foster and Smith Catalog.
Pets getting into areas like waste baskets, chairs, counter tops, beds; where they do not belong?
One way to keep them away from these areas is a handy gadget called: Innotek Zones Instant Pet Barrier. It is cordless and disc shaped. You can place the disc behind the waste container, or under a sofa cushion or bed mattress. Your pet wears a collar that emits an audible sound and a mild stimulation when it comes too close to the disc. You can adjust the "off-limits" area around the disc from 2 to 12 feet in diameter. There are two stimulation levels. This is NOT recommended for cats or other smaller animals. This is for dogs only. The disc runs on 3 AA batteries. Sold at PetSmart and through Drs Foster and Smith catalog.
