One must admit, the idea of a late night comedian running for, and getting elected President is an interesting premise. The gist of it all is that we, the people are so disgusted with both major parties, the vague promises and seemingly every candidate trying to one up the other on who loves their family the most, with lobbyists basically running the country, conduct a grass roots campaign to get Tom Dobbs, a late night comedian along the lines of Jon Stewart of Comedy Central, to run for President. Dobbs then travels around the country talking issues while the major candidates smile and speak in platitudes about such things as alternative fuels, while being financed by Big Oil.

At first, Williams' Dobbs is reluntant to tell jokes or use humor in any way, as big a waste in the movie as it was to his advisors in the film. He talks issues non stop, and while what he says mostly makes sense, the audiences appear bored, as they came to hear his comedy act. Dobbs eventually gets enough support to get involved with the two major candidates in a televised debate. In the debate, Dobbs doesn't use up all his allotted time, but proceeds to interrupt the other two debaters and take over the show to the dismay of the moderator and her producers, sort of like a cross between Tom Cruise's bizarre couch-jumping episode on Oprah and Howard Dean's YYYYYYEEEEEEOOOOOWWWWWWWWW speech a couple of years ago.

Movie Review: Man of the Year Starring Robin Williams

Could This Man Be Our Next President? As funny as He Is, I don't think so.

Takeaways
 • The movie is funny, in places, mostly Robin Williams, but has too many dead spots for me
 • The filmmakers can't seem to decide at times whether to go for laughs or drama
 • On the whole, the plot was just unbelievable, most of the best lines were in the Trailer
